About the Course
The second year of Creative Mastery brings all elements of the course together, with students completing the final 40% of their qualification through the refinement of coursework and preparation for the externally set assignment and 10-hour final exam. Students work with greater independence, depth, and personal direction, building on the skills and creative approaches developed in the first year. Through continued project-based learning, students connect their research, experimentation, and final outcomes in increasingly sophisticated and personal ways. New materials, techniques, and processes are explored as students respond to the needs of their evolving ideas.
Regular portfolio reviews and feedback guide critical thinking and help ensure both coursework and projects are fully resolved and professionally presented. Sketchbooks and journals remain a key tool for advanced research, experimentation, and reflection. The final phase focuses on technical excellence, confident material handling, creative risk-taking, and the development of a mature, individual artistic voice.
Through focused studio practice and bespoke mentorship, students complete distinctive bodies of work, fully prepared for final assessment and future creative opportunities. In their final year, students continue developing within a focused group of passionate, home-educated artists, supporting one another as they complete their personal creative journeys and prepare for assessment.
