About the Course

This weekly session supports students working toward Bronze, Silver, or Gold Arts Award qualifications — nationally recognised accreditations designed to develop young people as confident, reflective artists and arts leaders. Through a flexible, project-based structure, students explore the art forms that inspire them, connect with working artists and organisations, and develop skills in leadership, collaboration, critical thinking, and artistic expression. Each student builds a personalised portfolio — digital or physical — documenting their journey through participation, research, creation, and sharing. With Arts Award’s open framework, students can pursue their individual passions while gaining qualifications that support further education, creative career pathways, and meaningful engagement with the wider arts community.

This course is self-led, allowing each student to progress at their own pace. There are no fixed deadlines — students can take as long or as little time as they need to complete their award. We recomend starting at Bronze and gradualy geting to silver and gold level. We provide continuous support and guidance, helping them work and create through their unique creative journey.

Award Levels we offer:

  • Bronze Arts Award (Level 1) - Students take part in arts activities, review an arts event, research an inspiring artist, and share a creative skill with others.

  • Silver Arts Award (Level 2) - Learners set and complete a personal arts challenge, explore arts events, research arts careers, and plan and lead their own creative project.

  • Gold Arts Award (Level 3) - Students extend their arts practice, gain experience with artists or arts organisations, and lead a full arts project. Gold carries 16 UCAS points, supporting applications to higher education and creative training.

Arts Award is valued for its flexibility, creativity, and relevance to young people. Portfolios can be presented in many formats — including photos, video, blogs, artwork, audio, or sketchbooks — making it accessible and adaptable to individual learning styles. It recognises all creative forms, from painting and design to music, theatre, film, creative writing, and digital media. The award promotes independence, confidence, and communication, Students gain practical skills they can use beyond the classroom — in life, education, and future careers — all while engaging meaningfully with the creative world around them.
